Educational Background
Born and raised in Jacksonville, Dr. Aung-Din always knew he wanted to build his life and medical career in his home state. He attended Florida State University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science in 2013, and later completed a Master of Science in Medical Sciences at the University of South Florida in 2014. He then earned his medical degree from Florida State University College of Medicine in 2019.
Residency and Clinical Training
After medical school, Dr. Aung-Din completed a transitional year through the USF Morsani College of Medicine and Brandon Regional Hospital from 2019 to 2020. He completed his dermatology residency at the University of South Florida from 2020 to 2023.
His dermatology training included experience at the USF Department of Dermatology, the Moffitt Cutaneous Department, the James A. Haley VA, and Tampa General Hospital. These varied clinical settings helped shape the broad perspective he brings to general dermatology today.
Leadership and Recognition
During residency, Dr. Aung-Din served as Academic Chief Resident in USF Dermatology from 2022 to 2023. He was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society in 2019. He became board-certified in dermatology in July 2023 and has practiced at Waterside in Bradenton since June of that year.
Research and Publications
Dr. Aung-Din has contributed to published dermatology research covering topics including mycosis fungoides, cutaneous polyarteritis nodosa, geographic tongue, Morgellons disease, psoriasis clinical-trial outcome measures, and topical medication use. His extensive academic background reflects Waterside’s broader commitment to evidence-based dermatologic care.
A Lifelong Connection to Florida
Outside the office, Dr. Aung-Din has long enjoyed the outdoor lifestyle that comes with living in Florida. He grew up playing lacrosse, sailing, surfing, and fishing, and his current interests include biking, hiking, backpacking, fishing, and golf.
